Annemarie Boleij, together with Francesco Ciompi and Nils Kohn seek to provide insights into the complex relationship between gut health and mental well-being. The European research project HEREDITARY, which began in January 2024, aims to lay the foundation for an advanced AI platform over the coming years, supported by an eleven million euro grant from the European Commission. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the death of Napoleon Bonaparte, there was a lot of media attention for Napoleon, including a pathology paper, initiated by Alessandro Lugli, our collaborator in Bern. Chella van der Post was one of the authors. One of our large national newspapers paid really close attention!

As chair of PALGA, Iris speculates over the future…
The World Health Organisation coordinates the classification of cancer and precursors. Periodically updates are made, as was the case for the WHO Classification of Digestive System Tumors in 2019. Three Radboudumc gastrointestinal pathologists were involved: Chella van der Post, Lodewijk Brosens and Iris Nagtegaal (editor). The Radboud Oncology news made an item out of it.
The surreal swimming challenge from Maarten van der Weijden kept the whole of the Netherlands fascinated for days! One of the research projects that could be financed by this endeavor was the Hereditary Pancreas carcinoma project by GUTS! We made the front page of the local newspaper.
There is no higher praise for a research project than being depicted by the great Belgian cartoonist Kamagurka in the national press!
